Education

Amanda Murphy received a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from The University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2019. She specializes in psychiatry/mental health and has experience treating individuals across the lifespan. 

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a nationally accredited university. 

She previously obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSN) from Saint Luke's College of Health Sciences and worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. 

Amanda Murphy was also awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Kansas in 2013. 

What is a Master of Science in Nursing?

A Master of Science in Nursing is a post-graduate degree conferred to individuals who have previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have completed the necessary coursework required by a Master's program. These Master-level courses include, but are not limited to, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, advanced health assessment, and hundreds of hours of on-site clinical training.

What is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)?

A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who specializes in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. PMHNPs can prescribe medication with physician collaboration. In the state of Kansas, nurse practitioners can prescribe schedule II, III, IV, and V medications, depending on their collaborative practice agreement.
